A Message from the Creator
Thank you for taking the time to check out 2turntables!
I am thrilled and excited for this program to get started. The journey of creating this program started nearly 12 years ago when I was a graduate student at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, studying in the Counseling Psychology program. During that time, I was at a crossroads in my career, debating whether to pursue my skills as a DJ of over 20 years professionally or to continue my studies in counseling psychology. Interestingly, while taking a class on Play Therapy, I had a realization. Learning about Play Therapy's approach led me to see DJ’ing as a therapeutic tool, which sparked the idea of combining my passions to create a program. That's how 2 Turntables was born!
As the son of immigrant parents from Vietnam, I witnessed firsthand the mental and emotional impact of violence and war on my family. This experience fueled my curiosity about why so many people suffer from trauma, depression, stress, and more. With over 11 years of experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas and Pennsylvania, I have worked closely with individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, stress, anger, sleep issues, and various other problems. I approach my work with sensitivity, compassion, relatability, and thoughtfulness.
In a time marked by uncertainty, fear, and limited mental health resources in many communities, I am offering an opportunity to change the way we perceive mental health and therapy. 2 Turntables is a unique program that integrates my 29 years as a professional DJ and 11 years as a licensed therapist to address mental health issues in a relatable, engaging, and thought-provoking manner.
My primary goal has always been to help and serve people. I hope that this program not only breaks down barriers to mental health for those who struggle to relate to or access a therapist but also provides valuable support. The practice is now officially open here in Houston, Texas. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions.
How may I be of service to you?
Sincerely,
